How to Order a cPanel License
Control Panel (cPanel)
Servers with cPanel/WHM require a valid cPanel license in order to be utilized. You must purchase a cPanel license for each cPanel & WHM server that you wish to run.
You can use the following methods to purchase a cPanel license & WHM license:
- In recently-installed servers that run cPanel & WHM version 62 and later, if the server displays the Trial License banner, you can purchase a cPanel license from within the WHM interface.
- If you are a cPanel Partner with access to Manage2, you can purchase a cPanel license from within the Manage2 interface.
- You can also purchase a license from the cPanel Store or any web hosting company that offers cPanel license services.
When purchasing a new Cloud VPS Server or Dedicated Server, the option to include the cPanel license during checkout is available on most company websites.
cPanel VPS License: This is the license to select if you have a Cloud VPS Server
Dedicated cPanel License: This is the license to select if you have a Dedicated Server.
The two licenses are not interchangeable. A Cloud VPS license will not work on a Dedicated Server and vice versa. Once ordered, you will be able to set the IP address for the service you wish to apply the license to from your Client Area, on the cPanel license product.
To install cPanel & WHM on your server after getting a cPanel license, run the following command:
cd /home && curl -o latest -L https://securedownloads.cpanel.net/latest && sh latest
This command changes your session to the home directory, downloads the latest version of cPanel & WHM, and runs the installation script.
When you install cPanel on your server, the cPanel installation process should detect your new cPanel license automatically. If it does not, proceed to the Troubleshooting section.
cPanel does not provide an uninstall program. If you want to remove a cPanel installation, you must reformat the disk.
