What is VPS Cpanel?

As of January 2020, cPanel is now licensed based on the number of active cPanel license accounts on the server. As such, most providers have a cPanel license management system now available.

In this article, we’ll walk you through how to add, delete, and manage a cPanel license on your servers.

Managing cPanel License IP

To set a cPanel License IP, you really just need to follow these 2 quick steps. Firstly, one of which would be to set the IP of the server on which you wish to use the cPanel license. Secondly, you would want to activate the License in your cPanel. Once these 2 steps are done, you should be ready to set up your new cPanel/WHM on your server.

To start, we will need to tell the cPanel License which server it will be assigned to. Additionally, to do this, we would need to add the server’s IP address to the cPanel License in order to register it. Moreover, step two involves changing the IP address for your server.

Activating cPanel License

Next is very simple to activate your cPanel License. First, log in to your VPS through SSH or the Get VNC option in the Cloud Control Portal. If you have a Dedicated Server, you would need to use SSH. Once you log in simply run the following code and you should see an activation message.
/usr/local/cpanel/cpkeyclt

Now you should be able to log in to your WHM to configure your cPanel for your server.

cPanel Access

cPanel is normally accessed using SSL on port 2083 or simply by adding “/cPanel” to the end Domain Name/Hostname. Also, a cPanel license generally supports many different plugins to support the hosting industry such as one-click installer, Softaculous, CSF, etc to make it more reliable.

Consolidate cPanel Accounts

Firstly, take stock of any cPanel license accounts that can be merged into a master account. Additionally, some of your users may not require cPanel access at all. In this case, their primary domain can be seamlessly converted into an add-on domain under a master cPanel account.

Moreover, it’s crucial to remember that VPS, Dedicated, and Reseller accounts can create unlimited add-on domains. These are essentially separate websites managed under one cPanel license. For many situations, this option may prove to be the most advantageous and easier to manage.
